The Lincang Government and the Yunnan Macadamia Society Discussed the Preparation of the Macadamia Symposium
On April 26, Zhao Guixiang, deputy mayor of Lincang Government, met with the visiting delegation of Yunnan Macadamia Society in Lincang.
Jolyon Burnett, CEO of Australian Macadamia Society (AMS), Guo Xianghong, senior business representative of Australia Trade Investment Committee and Chen Yuxiu, President of Yunnan Macadamia Society respectively made recommendations about their tours prior to the 8th International Macadamia Symposium to Lincang Government.
Both sides exchanged views on the reception of guests, agenda of the symposium, differences among cultural customs, recruitment of volunteers, transportation schedule, friendly city cooperation and other areas.
The 8th International Macadamia Symposium will be held in Lincang city, Yunnan province in October 2018.
There will be more than 300 macadamia experts, scholars, scientific research institutions, society leaders from all over the world and more than 200 domestic well-known entrepreneurs. How to coordinate the differences between different countries and regions and different ethnic customs has become the focus of the preparatory work for the symposium.
At the meeting, Jolyon Burnett, based on his rich experience of macadamia symposium’ preparation, made several suggestions to the Lincang government on the details of site selection, business presentation, symposium process, reception and settlement payment.
“I believe that the international nuts industries will be greatly interested in planting macadamia in the mountains. I hope that the schedule can ensure that there will be no less than one hour to visit and communicate at every tour spot.”
Ms. Guo Xianghong said the Australia Trade Investment Committee attached great importance to the event. The Australia Trade Investment Committee will attend and invite relevant Australian government departments to attend the 8th International Macadamia Symposium. At the same time, as the birthplace of Macadamia, Lesmore city, Australia, hopes to take this symposium as an opportunity to establish a friendly relationship with Lincang city.
Chen Yuxiu, President of Yunnan Macadamia Society, made a report on the preparatory work to the Lincang government. She said: “Through the efforts of all parties and the active mobilization, the 8th International Macadamia Symposium will be the session with the largest scale, the largest number of speakers and the largest of participants in the history of International Macadamia Symposium. We hope that all parties can work together to share publicity resources and enhance the publicity of the Symposium.”
After hearing the opinions of concerned parties, deputy mayor Zhao Guixiang extended his sincere gratitude to the delegation for their work and gave a detailed response to the recommendations made by the delegation. He said the preparation of the 8th International Macadamia Symposium is advanced steadily. Then, working group will present a detailed optimization and perfection of preparatory work based on the suggestions and opinions by the delegation. Zhao Guixiang said: “ As long as it is good for the development of Lincang macadamia and global macadamia, we will strongly support them.”
Deputy Mayor Zhao Guixiang said that in addition to hosting the eighth International Macadamia Symposium, the National Key Nut Testing Laboratory (Lincang) will be completed and put into operation in May this year. Linchang will also begin to build an international macadamia museum, which will show the history of macadamia in a comprehensive way, giving people an idea of how a seed can spread from its origin to the world and create such a great social wealth; at the same time, The museum will be a collection of macadamia samples from all over the world and become a living macadamia museum for future generations to visit and learn. "We want to build Lincang into a place where the world's nut community can come together, and a major platform for research, communication and development, sharing with the world the latest research data on macadamia. " Zhao Guixiang said.
Members of the delegation said they will provide a large amount of information, scientific research information and physical samples to assist Lincang to complete the symposium and the construction of the International Nut Museum.
The tour lasted four days and covered more than 600 kilometers. The project covered several dimensions of the reception and implementation of the Symposium. In order to express his gratitude to Jolyon Burnett for travelling thousands of miles to Lincang to assist in the preparation of the Symposium, Zhao Guixiang, deputy mayor of Linchang City, presented to Mr. Burnett the Wa costume with the characteristics of Lincang nationality.
