The World Cup is the highest-profile football competition held every four years in the world. The Olympic Games is the comprehensive sport event with the highest standard held every four years in the world. The International Macadamia Symposium, renowned as the Olympic Games in Macadamia, is the highest-level event for exchanges within the macadamia industry held every three years.
On October 17th to 19th, 2018, the 8th International Macadamia Symposium will be held in Lincang city, Yunnan province, China. This symposium features three “est”: the grandest scale, the greatest number of international participants and the largest number of the speakers.
The theme of the Symposium is “Green, Hope, Health, Sharing". According to the Organizing Committee of the 8th International Macadamia Symposium, more than 50 seminars on industry overview in main macadamia producing countries, seedling technique, orchard management, pest control, harvesting and processing, food safety, market supply and demand, international cooperation and others would be held in three days. More than 50 world-class macadamia experts, scholars and entrepreneurs will share their latest scientific researches and management technology achievements in the last three years.
It is worth mentioning that, in recent years, the development scale of Chinese macadamia industry, especially in Lincang has achieved worldwide success. Taking this Symposium as an opportunity, relevant members of Yunnan Macadamia Society, on behalf of China, will show and introduce the technologies of high altitude mountain planting, orchard management and post-harvest processing with unique Chinese characteristics. Meanwhile, the Organizing Committee will have the field trips and on-site visits with peers from concerned countries.
Up to now, it has been confirmed that many famous experts and scholars around the world, such as Jolyon Burnett, CEO of Australia Macadamia Society (AMS), Barry Christie,Operation Manager of SAMAC, Chen Haisheng, President of Guangxi South Asia Tropical Agricultural Science Institute, Zhai Fengying, Director of board of supervisors of Chinese Nutrition Society, Ruth Huwer, Australia entomologist and about 300 peers of international macadamia from 15 countries and regions, such as South America, Africa, Australia and Asia, will attend the Symposium.
By far, the macadamia planting area in China has reached 2.4 million mu, accounting for 61.05% of the total macadamia planting area in the world. The 8th International Macadamia Symposium in China will bring a new pattern for integrated cooperation in the global macadamia industry.
